Application of Angular Contact Ball Bearings in Machine Tools

Angular contact ball bearings are especially suitable for carrying combined loads, that is, loads acting in both radial and axial directions. Single row angular contact ball bearings are usually used together with two or more bearings of the same type. There are three ways to install and use: back-to-back, face-to-face, and arrangement in the same direction.

Angular contact ball bearings are often used in machine tool spindle components as spindle supports. This structure is widely used in grinding machine tools. It adopts the arrangement of two sets of bearings arranged in the same direction and placed opposite to each other at both ends of the shaft. The outer ring of a pair of bearings at the right end is axially fixed, and its axial left side of the outer ring of a pair of bearings at the left end is hollowed out, and the right side is resisted by a spring seat supported by a spring. In this way, when the temperature rise causes the main shaft to elongate, the pair of bearings at the left end can move to the left in the sleeve, thereby compensating for the thermal expansion of the main shaft and keeping the original preload of the bearings. The spring here plays the role of eliminating the bearing clearance and applying preload. The size of the pretightening force is determined by the working load, and the spring size and the number of springs are determined accordingly.
