Randomly matched bearings are specially manufactured so that when arbitrarily arranged and mounted close together, a certain internal clearance or preload and/or uniform load distribution is obtained without the use of spacers or similar devices. Any paired bearing has a designation suffix indicating internal clearance (CA, CB, CC) or preload (GA, GB, GC). When ordering, specify the number of individual bearings required, not the number of bearing sets.
When the load capacity of the single-row bearing is not enough, use paired installation (tandem configuration); or when the load is compound load or axial load acts in two directions, use paired installation (back-to-back and face-to-face pairing).
In series configuration, the load lines are parallel, and the radial and axial loads are evenly shared by the bearings. However, bearing sets can only withstand axial loads acting in one direction. If the axial load is acting in the opposite direction, or if there is a compound load, a third bearing that is adjusted relative to the tandem paired bearing must be added.
The load lines of bearings paired back-to-back are split toward the bearing shaft. Axial loads acting in both directions can be supported, but loads in each direction can only be supported by one bearing. Back-to-back mounted bearings provide a relatively rigid bearing arrangement and can withstand overturning moments.
The load lines of the face-to-face paired bearings meet towards the bearing shaft. Axial loads acting in both directions can be supported, but loads in each direction can only be supported by one bearing. This configuration is not as rigid as a back-to-back pair, and it is less suited to withstand overturning moments.
